Canadian Yoga Association (CYA) is the officially recognized National Sport Organization of Canada for yogasana. Established as a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to the development, promotion, and governance of yogasana as a competitive sport across Canada.

Our Vision:
To see yogasana recognized as a mainstream sport in Canada and ultimately included
in the Olympic Games, while inspiring Canadians of all ages to embrace yogasana for
physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Our Affiliation with Commonwealth Yogasana Sports Federation:
Canadian Yoga Association is the National Affiliate of Commonwealth Yogasana
Sports Federation (CYSF) , the international governing body for yogasana sports
across 56 Commonwealth nations.

Organizing the official Canadian National Yogasana Championships annually.
Selecting and preparing Canada’s National Yogasana Team for international.
Providing high-performance training programs and pathways for athletes
Accrediting and training yogasana coaches to national standards.
Certifying officials and judges for national competitions.
Establishing and maintaining national standards for yogasana competition.
Upholding safe sport principles and ethical conduct across all program.

Year Milestone
2019 Canadian Yoga Association established.
2019 Incorporated under Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.
2025 Recognized as National Sport Organization for yogasana.

2023 First Canadian National Yogasana Championships organized.
